Pallets in Emsworth
Emsworth sits at the head of Chichester Harbour on the Hampshire and West Sussex border. It is a small town with a working waterfront, a strong independent food trade and streets that were never built for lorries.
Harbour and quayside trade
The mill ponds and quays on the harbour edge support boatyards, moorings, sailing clubs and the marine services that go with them. That work is seasonal and physical: fit-out and lay-up, chandlery and parts, materials in and equipment out, often handled in tight yards close to the water.
Deliveries to the quayside end of town need planning. Access roads are narrow, turning space is limited and there is pedestrian traffic along the waterfront most of the year.
Independent food and retail
Emsworth has an unusually strong concentration of independent food businesses for a town of its size — restaurants, delicatessens, bakers, small producers and specialist shops. These are small-quantity, frequent-delivery customers who need pallets for stock, storage and occasionally display, rather than for heavy distribution.
Where food is involved it is worth asking about plastic pallets. They wash down properly, they do not absorb, and for anything being handled in a food preparation area they are often the better answer than timber.

The town is on the A259 with the A27 just north of it, so we usually combine Emsworth with Havant or Hayling on the same run.
